drnk is a hydration app. You drink water on camera to earn screen time for the apps you have chosen to lock. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who processes it, and the control you have over it.
This policy covers the drnk mobile app and drnk.pro. The data controller is Klova LLC, contactable at hello@drnk.com.
1. Camera and video
drnk uses your camera only while you are actively recording a drink. It is never accessed in the background, and never when you are elsewhere in the app.
- While recording, a small number of low-resolution still frames (longest edge capped at 384 pixels) are captured from the session.
- Those frames are sent through our backend to Google's Gemini API, which judges whether you were drinking and for roughly how long.
- Frames are used solely to produce that verdict and are then discarded. They are not stored by drnk, not retained by the verification service, and not used to train models.
- We never record or upload video, audio, or a continuous camera stream.
- Nothing is captured or transmitted when you are not actively recording.
You may revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings. Without it, drnk cannot verify a drink, and the earning feature will not work.
2. What we collect
If you use drnk without signing in, everything below stays on your device and none of it reaches our servers. Once you create an account, we store the following:

What we deliberately never collect:
- Which apps you chose to lock.Apple's Screen Time framework returns opaque tokens and never tells us which apps they are. We only ever know how many. We have not undone that, and we do not send it anywhere.
- Camera images, for any purpose other than the live verdict described above. No frame is ever stored, and none is ever sent to analytics.
- Precise location, contacts, health-app data, or your device's advertising identifier.
3. Sensitive information
Your date of birth, sex and body weight are personal information that some laws treat as sensitive. We collect them for one purpose — sizing your daily water goal — and we do not sell them, use them for advertising, or share them with anyone beyond the infrastructure providers listed below. You can remove them at any time by deleting your account.
4. Who processes your data
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with data brokers, and we do not run advertising. We rely on the following processors, each acting on our instructions:

We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.
5. International transfers
We operate from the United States and our processors may store or process data in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the UK, EEA or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as implemented by the providers above.
6. How long we keep it
- Camera frames: not retained. They exist only for the duration of a verification request.
- Account, profile, app state and drink records: kept while your account is active, and deleted when you delete your account.
- Analytics events: retained only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy.
- Backups and legally required records may persist for a short period after deletion before being overwritten.
7. Legal bases for processing
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, we process your data on these bases:
- Performance of a contract — operating your account, syncing your progress, verifying drinks, and providing drnk Pro.
- Consent — camera access, notifications, and the profile answers used to size your goal. You may withdraw consent at any time in iOS Settings or by deleting your account.
- Legitimate interests — product analytics, security, and preventing abuse of the earning system, balanced against your rights as described in this policy.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, restrict or object to our processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
- Deletion: available directly in the app at You → Account → Delete account. This is permanent and immediate, and removes your server-side data.
- Everything else: email hello@drnk.com and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
UK/EEA residents: you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
9. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls that restrict your data to your own authenticated account. Verification runs server-side so that credentials for third-party services are never shipped inside the app. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
drnk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact hello@drnk.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
